I've never had a hisec static but have lived in various w-systems with lowsec, nullsec, and w-space statics.
IMO nullsec statics require a fair bit more orgnaisation and patience than the others. Resupply from hisec is the main issue you find yourself grappling with is getting stuff to, and from, hisec. The nature of thru-static visitors wasn't really a problem ... altho the nullsec did seem to bring with it a better class of visitor (gankers included). Most of our visitors were always thru incoming K162s anyways, and having a nullsec static meant they were more likely to close their conenction and look elsewhere for their hisec access.
We still run our nullsec static C3 and rely heavily on hisec K162s for resupply and getting most stuff to market. Occasionally we'd use the static to get ourselves out to empire for other commitments or to get a load of sleeper stuff to market ... and we never managed to get a WH to EC-P8R :-( The frequency of hisec K162s is quite variable, from a rash of one every day for a week thru to nothing for a month. The average was somewhere in the 5 - 10 days range. A few times came, early on, when we thought we'd have to try sneak some more POS ice-fuel in via null but, in the end, there always seemed to be a hisec K162 coming along just in time.
When our static was activated and we got visitors from null they were generally more savvy, but most of our nullsec visitors were there to break their nullsec monotony and harvest some sleepers ... or try kill us. None seemed seriously interested in attacking our POS. I was surprised to learn, during some of those cat-and-mouse games, that quite a few null-dwellers haven't got a clue about w-space. Some nullsec dwellers routinely use WHs to access hisec. I guess it's easier to head thru a low-end w-system or two, to get to hisec, than it is thru 23 nullsec gate jumps, but they're usually accessing your system via K162s rather than your static.
A nullsec static also offers you better quality sites thru-the-hole and you can find yourself running sigs / anoms or ratting in very quiet backwater systems .... bouyed by the pure luxury of having a local channel alert you to potential visitors.
Having lived in C3s with nullsec and lowsec, but not hisec, statics my preference atm is for lowsec - the system I am sitting in as I type. There doesn't seem to be a big difference in thru-static traffic and it's relatively easy to haul large amounts of stuff thru lowsec to hisec ... no bubbles. We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details.
